Data Governance and Regulatory Frameworks for Transforming Healthcare Systems

In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital health, effective data governance is pivotal for organizations aiming to harness the full
potential of their data assets. In this presentation we will showcase how CMH developed a data strategy informed by The HIMSS
AMAM model that has guided us on a transformative journey towards enhanced utilization of data for strategic and operational decision making.

Over the past year, our organization has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to improve our analytic and data governance
strategies. By systematically addressing challenges related to capacity, flow, and resourcing, we have implemented significant
enhancements to our data infrastructure, enabling advanced capabilities in AI and machine learning.

We established a robust governance structure and developed policies that ensure data integrity, security and the safe ethical,
responsible use of advanced predictive prescriptive analytics. These foundational improvements have allowed us to deploy innovative solutions that inform operational and strategic decision-making processes, fundamentally transforming how we deliver care. Some of the examples of innovative solutions that have been developed at CMH include:

  1. AI based hiring system- integrates AI-technologies into applicant screening process to enhance recruitment efficiency while mitigating bias and reinforcing CMH’s commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  2. ICU acuity based nursing resources schedule- The Acuity Tool is designed to enhance ICU nursing resource scheduling by aligning staffing levels with patient acuity.
  3. Real-time ER flow management system- Enhances decision-making through real-time analytics to improve organizational flow. In this session, we will share key insights and lessons learned from our journey, highlighting the critical role of data governance in driving organizational change and improving patient outcomes. Attendees will gain practical strategies for leveraging data governance to enhance analytic maturity and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within their organizations.
